Building on 12 years of cyclocross frames designs, Irish has introduced the 2020 Gerryowen CX frameset. A true cyclocross frameset that enables you to shed mud, project power through the chain stays and with just enough forgiveness on the fork that would allow you be corner quickly but never say it's twitchy. Like our earlier Master, it features a lower head tube and a slghtly longer top tube with redesigned cable routing for hydralic, electronic and legacy cable systems.
The wheelbase gives you a solid and maneuverable feel allowing you to float across sand, dig into the turf or roll the slick mud with control. The small starts at 100.6cm while the XL takes it to 103cm.
Like our earlier Carolinas, the Gerryown continues our focus on strength and rigidity, while pairing this with good clearance for between 25cc and 40cc width modern CX tires and even verging into the gravel realm. The Gerryowen's monocoque carbon fiber frame uses a proprietary carbon lay up that combined both high and medium modulus and comes with a 142mm wide 12mm thru axle rear, and a 12mm thruaxle fork.
The front end receives equal care and uses the same materials found in our Carolina's fork but returns to a true straight direct drive fork devoid of the wave relief found in the Carolina. This ties perfectly to our lower head tubes and longer top tubes proving precision cutting through turns. Braking is enhanced with specifications for a 160mm front rotor, and a 140mm rear rotor.
The frame weighs in at 1050g for the 53cm frameset and 380gm for the fork. It will accomidate a 27.2mm seatpost.
The frame is available as a frame set or complete bike inclusive of build packages from Sram and Campagnolo's new offerings. It is offered in White/Blue and also Metallic Red.. All frames feature a 1.125 to 1.5 steer tube and BB86 pressfit bottom bracket. Sizes available are XS (49cm) S (51cm) M (53cm) L (55cm) XL (57CM) and XXL (70cm). When sizing, pay close attention to the top tube length and head tubes as they are the key factors in any cyclocross frame.
